Bregje van Breugel

I like to start my consultation with a call with the families to get a feel for their situation, how their family works and what they hope to achieve. Following this, I ask each family to fill in a detailed questionnaire. Since I also work with children with special needs, obtaining detailed background information is important to rule out any factors hindering sleep. For example, children with ADHD or Autism will have different needs and require a different approach. I want to ensure we set realistic and attainable goals for each child. I check for any food allergies, different sensory needs, breathing issues and overall nutrition.

Based on this information, I compile a detailed sleep plan with options tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of each family. We will discuss this and adjust it if necessary. A family might need to take several preparatory steps before starting sleep coaching.

I coach the family through the process and give them personal support.

I am happy to work with children ranging from birth to 10 years old.

I have an MA in Special Education and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy.

4-Month Regression
32-month old, born extremely premature and with partial hearing loss, was waking up frequently at night (5+ times) and had difficulty falling asleep by herself in the evening. Before starting any sleep-shaping, we looked at factors that influence sleep due to prematurity, factors related to hearing loss, we considered daytime sleep, wake-windows and daytime food-intake (quality and quantity). We discussed several options that aligned with parenting style, trauma-informed (due to an extensive NICU stay) and taking prematurity into consideration. Following 2 weeks of personal support, this family continued to work independently for another 2 weeks. We followed this up with 2 further sessions to talk about any issues they had come across and how to keep being successful.
Toddler Transition
11-month old who was feeding to sleep and waking up several times per night and needing further feeding to go back to sleep. Due to the feed-to-sleep cycle, this little boy was not learning to fall asleep by himself and waking up every 1 to 2 sleep cycles at night and during daytime sleep. We discussed nutritional needs for an 11-month old, we looked at scheduling and wake-windows, and discussed sleep associations. We set up a sleep-plan that worked on all of the above. Before staring any sleep training, the family worked on improving daytime nutritional intake. Once ready, we set up a 2 week window with personal support. Within a few days, this young boy started falling asleep by himself in the evening and sleeping though the night.

Bregje was amazing at helping our little one learn to fall asleep all by themselves (and ditch the bottle). She created a comprehensive sleep plan for us that worked with our specific circumstances. She was available to answer questions at bedtime and talk us through any situations that arose as we were implementing the plan. Our kid now falls asleep by themselves without any tears, and is getting longer more restful sleep than before. Bregje did an amazing job helping us through the process! Sourced from Google Review.

We worked with Bregje for our 3 year old, who has had sleep challenges since he was a newborn, and we cannot recommend her highly enough. She took the time to truly understand our son, our routines, and everything we had already tried... Sourced from Google Review.

Bregje has been wonderful to work with! She provided a very detailed sleep plan full of research about our child and their background. She brings a calming, judgement free energy and it has helped us feel empowered and supported as parents. She's truly a joy to work with and very effective! Sourced from Google Review.
